About Us Funding Priorities Applying for a grant Grant Recipients Spotlight AIDS Walk Special Projects

The Indiana AIDS Fund has two grant programs for eligible organizations throughout the state of Indiana that provide HIV/AIDS advocacy, prevention and direct care services.

  1. Emergency Assistance: The Indiana AIDS Fund knows that coping with the disease can be a daunting task for the 11,000+ Hoosiers currently living with HIV or AIDS. Through the Gregory R. Powers Direct Emergency Financial Assistance (DEFA) Program, the Indiana AIDS Fund provides financial assistance for utility payments, rent and other housing costs, medical expenses, prescription drug costs, transportation expenses and food and nutrition for those most in need. Only Care Coordination Sites, as defined by the Indiana State Department of Health, are eligible to apply for DEFA grants. For more information or to see if your agency is eligible, visit www.in.gov/isdh.
  2. Prevention and Education: The only way to stop the spread of HIV is through diligent education and testing. That’s why the Indiana AIDS Fund provides the bulk of its grant funding for HIV testing, prevention and education programs, advocacy and capacity building.  Grants are provided to agencies and organizations that serve the general public though health education and risk-reduction programs, counseling, testing and referral programs.
